The Harford Volunteer Fire Company is a rural department located in northeastern Pennsylvania just off of ext 217 on Interstate 81 in Susquehanna County. We are midway between Scranton, Pennsylvania and Binghamton, New York. The department protects approximately 7,000 people living in the township of Harford, Gibson, and Lenox areas measuring approximately 150 sq. miles. We operate out of one station protecting an area made up of farms, homes, and woodlands.
We operate two engines, one tanker, and one brush truck plus twoBLS ambulances. We also house an MCI trailer in cooperation with the Bradford-Susquehanna EMS Council. Within our district is the Mountain View Elementary and High School. We cover approximately 10 miles of Interstate 81, two truck stops and one rural airport. We provide both Fire and EMS coverage for the Harford Agricultural Fair held every year during August. This fair has an approximate attendance of 60,000 people for the week.
We are a public department whose members are on a volunteer status. We are dispatched by the Susquehanna County Communications Center for all Fire and EMS calls. We maintain weekly work & training sessions as well as having developed box alarms for various businesses and other regions in our coverage area.
